Human Nature

Inspired by the beautiful poetry from A Softer World. I can't read that little book for more than fifteen minutes without bawling my eyes out, and that is RARE for a book to have that much emotional impact on me, especially since the poems are rarely over three lines, and always at least under five.

I used to believe in a pretty lie,
that everyone wanted to be my friend.
I was devestated to learn that it was the complete opposite,
that people are pieces of shit,
selfish,
stupid and ignorant,
intolerable in their intolerance,
hypocritical to the extreme.

If 99% of humanity were to drop dead of horrible, violent means,
I'd light my special cigar up,
and celebrate the death of dog(god)shit.
